Powered by SimpleLab: FloWater

Featuring Chris Liccardi, Chief Operating Officer
Welcome to another edition of Powered by SimpleLab, a series where we spotlight real customers using SimpleLab to simplify laboratory testing, verify quality, and deliver trusted results at scale.
In early 2026, FloWater, which provides Advanced Purification Water Refill Stations at businesses, schools, hotels, and gyms across the country, set out to add a new layer of verification to its water quality standards: a routine laboratory testing program spanning its stations nationwide.
FloWater partnered with SimpleLab to make monitoring possible at scale. Using SimpleLab's platform, the FloWater team orders test kits, ships and tracks them, and manages all results across locations in one place. Testing focuses on heterotrophic plate count (HPC) and Legionella, with SimpleLab handling the logistics from kit delivery through laboratory analysis so the FloWater team can focus on collecting samples and backing up the quality its stations already deliver.
Meet Chris!

Chris Liccardi, FloWater Chief Operating Officer
For readers who may not be familiar, can you briefly describe what FloWater does and where your refill stations can be found?
FloWater is transforming the way the world drinks water with Refill Stations that remove up to 99.9% of contaminants from tap water, then add back electrolytes and alkalinity for a crisp, refreshing taste. FloWater believes every person deserves access to clean drinking water that tastes great and is helping organizations improve health, sustainability, and the hydration experience while reducing reliance on single-use plastic water bottles.

What was the goal of launching a water quality monitoring program?
Validation and QA. With a premium product in purification, testing is paramount to validating that our equipment is operating properly in the field. We have set the bar high, and the testing makes sure we stay above it.
Before working with SimpleLab, how was water quality verified across your stations, and what prompted the decision to build a formal monitoring program?
We have tried various other testing labs through the years, and have found SimpleLab's program to be the best; both in terms of economics and ease of use.
Your program includes testing for heterotrophic plate count (HPC) and Legionella. Why were these the right parameters to focus on?
There are so many dangers in drinking water today, we found these to be the most crucial for us for a large scale program, when combining cost and quality of information.
How does sampling work in practice? Who collects the samples at each location, and how did you make the process repeatable across stations around the country?
We utilize our field technician team to administer the sampling. All results come to management for cataloging and analysis.

How has SimpleLab helped make the program easier to manage?
We have found great ease in all aspects of SimpleLab, from ordering to sampling instructions, to database visibility.
What's next for the program? Do you plan to expand testing to more locations or parameters over time?
We are thinking through other ways to leverage SimpleLab's extensive test portfolio, likely through additional contaminant testing.
At SimpleLab, we're proud to support the businesses and teams working behind the scenes to verify quality, protect their customers, and make trusted drinking water more accessible. We're especially grateful to customers like FloWater, who show what a modern water quality monitoring program can look like at national scale.
